Is It Selfish To Focus On Yourself As A Leader?

Posted by

Leadership is something we have come to agree with as not being a destination. Rather, it is a series of goals and destinations that create the map of your life.
When we say focus on you, it doesn’t mean that your team doesn’t matter. As a matter of fact, they are included in that focus.

Without a solid team success is a destination and a goal that is more challenging than it is rewarding.

Here is why we think so.

In a typical working environment with your leaders and subordinates, you will need a group of individuals with different strengths that compliment one anothers weakness.
Now here is where you come in. You as a leader need to be well aware of who you are, what your temperment is like, and what you are able to tolerate. This is important because you will be able to deligate certain tasks that play to your teams strengths. Ultimately, when your team succeeds with assignments, everyone involved achieves success. Keeping challenges balanced and well managed, and providing a platform for team members to achieve ownership in reaponsibilities.

This can only be possible if you have a strong sense of who you are, as an individual and as a leader.

Do you agree?
