Versions Of A Faceless Man

I know you.
I’ve seen you before.
You don’t recognize me.
You wouldn’t, of course.

I looked different when we first met.
sort of like you,
Sort of.
I guess.
Not quite,
it’s true.

Another version of me.
Another version to see.
Another chance to embrace,
what could have been?

I recognize your face,
Your lips,
Your hair,
I know you from somewhere.

I can’t remember your name,
I can’t remember the place,
I can’t remember the conversation,

But I do know that face.

I guess,
Not quite,
It’s true.

Another version of me
Another version to see
Another chance to embrace
What could have been…
By me.
