Stages Of Alzheimer’s

The memory of forgetting just escapes.
Don’t remember the faces have come across,
the smiles have seen.

Most of all,
the eyes that have looked at thee.
Sitting in a dark room,
on a peach couch,
old wallpaper with ribbon patterns drapes the box to sit in.

Dark shadows dance across the floor,
and the images of strangers pass by and withdraw.
Every hour is a new day, ‘hello to you’
a smile, and wave.

There is no trial and escape,
the disease has it filed and engaged.
Withering the witness of the mind until decay.
