Sleep has abandoned me,
and the lids of my eyes
are burning with an intensity equal to the Sun.
Holding my head up is hard,
the weight of my thoughts are heavy,
from these sleepless nights.
An awkward moment,
a momentary glance,
communication is lost.
Praying for a second chance,
let me prove my worth,
I refuse to use words while my eardrums
surf the waves that echo through the courts.
Suddenly I jump,
and the breeze from the free fall washes my tears across my cheeks,
cleansing the stains from sinful kisses.
Every hundred feet from the fall would steal moments of my past.
I watch my memories invade and escape my mind’s eye,
describing each step before I die.
Awake.
